Not too many of these turn up, Cushman started making these in 1862 and this would have been one of the designs after the 1865 patent.

Marked on the side: A F Cushman Maker Hartford.Conn Patd Dec 24th  1872

The chuck is small around 1 3/4" diameter and the shaft is around 11/32"

The jaws do move but there are some tight spots, may need looking at but i don't want to take this apart and leaving as is.
